I’ve kept an obsessive list of my reading since I started college. The college library gave me access to authors that I’ve always heard about, but could never locate. This was in the pre-Amazon days, when living in a small town made it difficult to locate any books, music, or films outside of the mainstream.

Books and music have always been touchstones of memories for me. Up until the CD collection hit the 1000 mark, I was able to recall where I obtained every single one. Just looking back at a list of books can remind me of the time spent reading it, and what was going on in my life.
