inspiration
Simultaneously inspiring and ego damaging to read about someone (Cameron Sinclair) my own age doing such amazing work. His Ted video is well worth watching. People like him really make me ask why I am wasting my life and how can I move forward.
As much as the Ted stuff can be accused of being elitist, there is some goddamned inspiring work.
MSIT Graduation Jun 20 2008
Last Friday I graduated from the MSIT program at Northwestern. It’s took too years and way too much money, but it’s over. It certainly wasn’t every I hoped for, but it’s over. Coming from a tiny town in Indiana, I never thought I would ever graduate from any university of any renown (BM and MM from Ball State). It was a personal success in that regard.
I now have my Saturdays free, and am looking forward to taking my first vacation in several years. Having your weekends halved, and many nights spent doing homework left for very little free time.
I have one photo from the day that isn’t completely embarrassing, aside from that fact that I look like a very toothy giant.
Day in Chicago
Had some personal days to use, so Jen and I headed downtown today. Had a fantastic day, gorgeous weather, good food, no complaints at all. Had a great breakfast at ‘Orange’: fruit sushi, cinnamon roll pancakes, and fruit kabob.
We checked out the Apple Store on Michigan Ave, and walked down to Millenium Park and caught part of an orchestra rehearsal. It was a great day off, something I haven’t had since November.
Tomorrow the family is coming up for graduation and the brother will be staying around for another couple of days. I’m assuming a fair amount of pizza will be consumed, including a possible visit to pizza fest in Lincoln Park.
